Cobalt Acquires Digital Provisions
New York, NY (July 11, 2024) - Cobalt Service Partners today announced that it has acquired Digital Provisions, a Long Island-based security integrator. Digital Provisions is Cobalt’s eighth acquisition since launching in December of 2023, and its seventh acquisition of 2024.
Digital Provisions was founded in 2000 by Brian Schulman (“Schulman”) and Brian Selltiz (“Selltiz”). In the early days, Schulman and Selltiz provided general IT support to a variety of customers. They even dabbled in retail before shifting focus to security services. More than twenty years later, Digital Provisions has become Long Island’s leading K12-focused security integrator.
“…we didn’t love selling cell phones and our customers kept asking us to work on their security, so we pivoted,” said Selltiz. “I do cringe a little thinking back on our early work, which wasn't all that great. But we applied ourselves and set out to be experts in our field, which I believe we eventually pulled off.”
After a few decades running the business, Selltiz and Schulman felt that the business would benefit from fresh energy and perspective. But they didn’t want to compromise on the ingredients that made Digital Provisions great in the first place. Ultimately, they decided to partner with Cobalt because they felt Cobalt would help unlock the business’s next stage of growth, while also respecting what the Digital Provisions team has worked so hard to build. “Throughout our strategic planning process, it became clearer and clearer that Cobalt shared the same values as we did,” said Selltiz. “Take care of the employees, take care of customers, and then the company will thrive.”
“We’re thrilled to welcome Selltiz, Schulman and the rest of the Digital Provisions team into Cobalt,” said Tyler Hoffman and Anthony Gonzalez, Co-CEOs of Cobalt. “Digital Provisions is a rapidly growing business, and we’re honored that ‘the Brians’ chose us as their partner for this exciting next chapter.”
Selltiz will remain fully involved in the business overseeing sales and business development, and Schulman will transition out of the day-to-day operations, while continuing to support the team in an advisory capacity. Cobalt will be supplementing the business with additional leadership talent in the coming months to help support its continued growth.
