Cobalt Acquires Flores Technical Services

New York, NY (March 10, 2025) – Cobalt Service Partners today announced that it has acquired Flores Technical Services (“FTS”). FTS is Cobalt’s 12th acquisition since launching in December of 2023, and its first acquisition of 2025.

FTS, a security integrator based in Dallas, Texas, was founded in 1998 by George Flores and Clark Thompson. David Schmitz joined the business in 2001, and over the subsequent two decades diversified the business’s customer base across healthcare, education, manufacturing, and defense, among others.

It became clear to me that Cobalt’s culture and integrity were in alignment with ours, which was non-negotiable for me.

“It took some time, but many years later we now manage several large school districts, healthcare providers, DOD contractors and semiconductor manufacturers across North Texas,” said Schmitz. “Our success was solely due to our team of employees that have dedicated themselves to our customers and each other.”

Schmitz made the decision to partner with Cobalt to ensure FTS could consistently attract and retain top talent, while also maintaining its extraordinary culture. “After continued discussions with Cobalt, it became apparent they would be a great partner,” Schmitz explained. “As I got to know [the Cobalt team], it became clear to me that Cobalt’s culture and integrity were in alignment with ours, which was non-negotiable for me.”

“We’re honored Dave decided to partner with Cobalt,” said Tyler Hoffman and Anthony Gonzalez, Co-CEOs of Cobalt. “FTS does an exceptional job taking care of its customers and its people, and we’re excited to add support wherever we can.”

Schmitz will stay on as special advisor while transitioning his day-to-day responsibilities over to Rocky Garner, FTS's longtime Operations Manager, and members of the Cobalt team.
