Founding Story

“In 1975, my grandfather and WWII Veteran LW Loyd founded Nashville Door Closer Service (“NDC”). The primary service was the repair and rebuilding of door closers and other hydraulic equipment such as floor jacks. Over time other services developed such as commercial door hardware installation and locksmithing. In 1995, LW reluctantly hired me as a locksmith and door tech helper. I was eager to learn and prove myself. Over time I learned new skills such as storefronts, hollow metal, and glass replacement to add to NDC’s services. After years of proving myself and increasing revenues I proposed an agreement in which I became his partner. Over time I bought out his shares of NDC and became the sole owner in 2012.

I continued to add skills to NDC such as automated door installs and repairs. I strove to hire leaders and top-notch technicians and create a work environment that supported growth and opportunity for our whole team. We have worked hard to build a customer base that trusts us to keep their commercial buildings safe and secure at a fair price. Some of our customers have been with us since the beginning!”

Why Cobalt

“In 2024, nine different offers were made to acquire NDC. I had never even considered selling the business. However, with that much interest, I thought I should talk to some of the interested buyers. Most of the offers were not in the best interest of my team or customers. Then I met with Cobalt. They offered a huge opportunity for NDC and our employees.
